The contemporary abstract expressionist paintings and drawings of Henrik Pillwitz describe in the core of his present life work landscapes and fragments of nature. Seemingly geological shapes but also cellular structures represent consciously a journey deep below the surface to the inner part of the earth, to the biological and geological structures that keep the world together.
The image of nature is shown out of a distance and human beings are obsolete, urban structures and man made technology is non existent in the works of Henrik Pillwitz. Nevertheless his paintings incorporate liveliness and dynamics which are created with brush strokes layer by layer and therefore his landscapes grow from inside and are derived from an organic origin, which resemble dream like landscapes. Whilst observing Henrik Pillwitz's paintings a picture of pristine nature is created.
